That means this week I’m adding text boxes and signature fields to broken PDF forms, trying to upload that paperwork to a web portal that is connected to a work email from two jobs ago, helping my kids finish up summer homework packets, attending orientation for sporadic and inconvenient 45-minutes windows, entering an entire year’s worth of school closures into my work calendar, setting up back-to-school outfits and supplies, managing dentist appointments and haircuts, confirming pickup and drop-off for a new slate of activities, and of course, being there emotionally during this transition period. On Thursday, my two sons go back to school. Research shows that being a working parent is the equivalent of holding 2.5 full-time jobs.
